“All parts of Iran have their own unique experience of producing rugs that rank as masterpieces.”

Alireza Bayat

Esfahan

Mallayer

Bayat Nomad Gaminchi are extremely proud of their place within Persia’s carpet weaving heritage. The Bayat family has been involved in the carpet trade since 1900. Its history has seen close links forged between the Gaminchi and Bayat families, strengthening the business, and a changing of focus from trading antique Persian carpets to contemporary carpet production. They aim to regenerate and honour the traditional art form, retaining the quality and aesthetic merits of their antique precursors. Bayat Nomad Gaminchi bases its production in a number of different areas of Iran, including the Fars, Hamadan, Esfahan and Kurdistan regions, and have nomadic weavers providing their skilled labour. In the words of Alireza Bayat, “We believe that to keep the originality

of each rug, you must make them in the area or region in which that style originated.” Bayat Nomad Gaminchi offers two lines in design: the ‘Classical’ range is produced by in-house designers with a strong adherence to traditional patterns while the ‘Nomadic’ range is developed by the weavers, following the company’s strict guidelines. To respond to the ever-changing demands of the market, the company continuously strives to develop new shades of colour for their natural dyes. When asked if BNG is optimistic about the future, Alireza Bayat responded “As the nature of the human being is to appreciate art forms, there will always be an interest and need for traditional art forms such as Persian carpets. Bayat Nomad Gaminchi fulfils this desire”.
